Lead BIG wraps up inaugural year

Lead BIG, a new corporate membership program, is getting ready for a new year.

Developed last summer, Lead BIG is a way for BBBSLV to engage the local business sector and tackle the growing list of children waiting to be paired with a mentor. Businesses were invited to sponsor individual matches in exchange for an array of benefits, including invites to special Lead BIG networking events and inclusion on BBBSLV letterhead. To help drive new volunteers, businesses are asked to share information about BBBSLV mentoring programs with their employees throughout the year.

In this first year, 15 companies joined at various levels to help reduce the current waiting list. A year-one goal of 50 matches by June 30 was narrowly missed, although the 44 matches Lead BIG did sponsor was a huge success.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, matches were paired virtually using ZOOM and other technology platforms. The pandemic also forced any in-person Lead BIG event to pivot to a virtual event. These numerous online events culminated with a two-part virtual Leadership Workshop, facilitated by Think Good Leadership on June 3 and June 26.

BBBSLV is gearing up for year two of Lead BIG, with a goal of not only sustaining the matches created this past year, but also creating an additional 25-50 new matches from our waiting list.
