EITC tax credits help BBBSLV in a big way

​Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program offers tax credits to eligible businesses contributing to a Scholarship Organization, an Educational Improvement Organization, and/or a Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Organization.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley’s (BBBSLV) site-based programs in Allentown, Bethlehem Area and Whitehall-Coplay School Districts served a total of 102 elementary school children (“Littles”) in one-to-one mentoring relationships with high school role models (“Bigs”) in the 2016-2017 academic year.

Participating schools:
Roosevelt Elementary School with Allen and Dieruff High School students
Fountain Hill Elementary School, Governor Wolf Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, Marvine Elementary School and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in partnership with Liberty High School and Freedom High School students.
Steckel Elementary School & Zephyr Elementary School with Whitehall High School students
 
Impact
82% of matched Littles demonstrated improvement or remained the same in educational expectations.
62% of matched Littles demonstrated improved confidence in school abilities.
53% of matched Littles demonstrated improvement in academic performance.

22% of matched Littles demonstrated improvement in attitudes toward risky behaviors.
